Viewpoint: Council did not like the conservative nature of the appointee. Brett was the only member to make a statement about the nominee, that it was a no-go based on interactions with town staff. Other members stayed silent when asked by the Mayor about any objections. Council stuck with cancel culture mentality. Recess should of been seconded and cooler heads might of prevailed. It would of been transparent of other members to voice the objection of candidate. All indications that it would of been a unanimous vote against. Partisan politics from non-partisan politicians.

Since Carmac is a registered Republican, and he was reappointed to the board and his seat as chair, I'm not sure that reasoning is as compelling to me.

It is a non-partisan board seat. It should not matter what political affiliation the person has. Is my viewpoint out of the realm of possibility?

I just am not sure how your comment explains the whole situation. They reappointed Carmac to the board and to his role as chair, and he is a Republican. That seems to show that they don't have a problem with conservative board members (including in board leadership positions). That's all I'm trying to point out.
