Apex Nears Completion of Third-Party Review on Utility Billing Issues
Council members reassured that this review is a top priority, and any customers affected by billing issues will be notified directly.
Apex, NC, Mar. 17, 2025 — Apex town officials are wrapping up a third-party review of utility billing issues, with final results expected by the end of March 2025. The review, which has been underway for several weeks, was launched to ensure billing accuracy and address concerns raised by residents and businesses.
At the March 11 Town Council meeting, Town Manager Randal Vosburg provided an update, explaining that the independent auditors are conducting an account-by-account analysis to verify billing records.
Why the Review is Happening
The audit was ordered to:
Check for errors in customer billing
Confirm that recent system updates have not caused discrepancies
Ensure that future utility bills are accurate and reliable
The town has been working closely with auditors, who are on-site this week (March 12-14) to finalize their review.
What Happens Next?
Once the review is complete, town leaders will:
Meet with the auditors to go over their findings
Develop a plan to share the results with the public
Make any necessary corrections to billing processes
Vosburg reassured council members that this review is a top priority, and any customers affected by billing issues will be notified directly. The town expects to have more information by the end of the month.
