Wake County GOP backs four candidates in Holly Springs; endorsements also named for Apex, and Fuquay-Varina
GOP endorses Mayor Sean Mayefskie, Councilman Tim Forrest, plus candidates Joe Cuccurullo and Josh Prizer in Holly Springs; early voting Oct 16–Nov 1; Election Day Nov 4.

Holly Springs, NC, Aug. 18, 2025 — The Wake County Republican Party has released (press release) its 2025 Wake County municipal election endorsements, which include a four-candidate slate in Holly Springs and names contenders in Apex and Fuquay-Varina. The final list follows weeks of interviewing candidates. In the release, Party Chairwoman Sandy Joiner stated that local officials “directly impact our neighborhoods, taxes, schools, public safety, and overall quality of life,” and that the party “proudly” backs its picks heading into November.
Holly Springs: who’s on the GOP-endorsed slate
• Mayor Sean Mayefskie — First elected in 2021, Mayefskie’s campaign biography emphasizes a private-sector background and a focus on fiscal management and public safety. One of his tenure’s highlighted achievements: the town earned a Aaa credit rating from Moody’s. (candidate website)
• Councilman Tim Forrest — A retired U.S. Army colonel serving on the Town Council since 2021, Forrest’s materials focus on infrastructure, safety, and parks. His site credits him with playing a key role in passing a $100 million parks bond to expand recreation amenities. (candidate website)
• Joe Cuccurullo — As a small-business owner and educator, Cuccurullo presents himself as a consensus-builder with service on the Town Planning Board and Land Use Advisory Council (and prior work on the Tree Advisory Committee). (candidate website)
• Josh Prizer — Prizer is committed to community, offering his more than 15 years as a volunteer firefighter, current service on the Town Planning Board, involvement in youth sports programs, and experience on a local charter-school board as evidence. A local political action committee, the Holly Springs Committee for Responsible Growth (HSCRG), is also backing these four candidates in the town’s nonpartisan municipal races.
Apex and Fuquay-Varina
The GOP’s endorsement list also includes Aditya Ahlawat and Mary Miskimon for the Apex Town Council. It also endorses Blake Massengill for mayor in Fuquay-Varina, with Nolan Perry for Town Commissioner..
