Residents updated on July 4 events and closures, payment system transition, community recognition of an educator and recent Pride and Juneteenth civic celebrations.
Apex, NC, Jun. 26, 2025 — During the Town Council meeting held on Tuesday, June 24, residents were updated on a range of seasonal topics, including an upcoming blackout period for online payments, Apex’s annual fireworks event, recognition of local festivals and an educator, and a proclamation honoring Parks and Recreation Month.
Online Payment Services Blackout Set for June 28–July 6
Residents were reminded that Apex’s utility billing system is transitioning from eSuite to a new platform called “My Account.” As a result, online and phone-based payments, as well as payments sent through online banking, will be unavailable from Friday, June 28, through Saturday, July 6.
During the blackout, in-person payments will be required at Town Hall using cash, check, or money order. Payment history will remain viewable in eSuite, but no transactions can be completed through the system during the transition.
Fireworks Frenzy Set for July 3 at Hunter Street Park
Apex’s Fireworks Frenzy returns Thursday, July 3, from 5:00–10:00 PM at Hunter Street Park (1250 Ambergate Station), featuring food trucks, inflatables, and two evening shows: a drone light show around 9:00 PM and fireworks at 9:30 PM, weather permitting.
Note: Road closures, restricted items (including pets, alcohol, tents, and sparklers), and early shutdowns of park facilities will be in effect. Parking is limited and strictly enforced.

Award in recognition of her dedication to multilingual learners and for fostering a welcoming, student-centered environment in the classroom.

Jack Otepka a representative for the Apex Public School Foundation presented the award and shared this about Ms. Morrissey:
“Ms. Morrissey brings high energy, compassion, inclusivity into every space she enters, creating a welcoming environment where students feel seen, supported, and empowered to grow. Her commitment helps every learner feel at home while developing their language skills.”
In addition, Mayor Jacques Gilbert issued a proclamation declaring July 2025 as “Parks and Recreation Month” in Apex (link to proclamation). The proclamation encouraged residents to take advantage of the town’s 12 parks, 30 miles of trails, and its growing slate of inclusive recreational programming. Members of the Parks, Recreation and Cultural Resources Department were present to receive the honor, alongside community supporters and advisory board members.
