Beginning Monday, Nov. 25, through Sunday, Dec. 15, 2024, children can drop off their letters to Santa in the special mailbox located outside Holly Springs Town Hall.
Holly Springs, NC, Nov. 9, 2024 — Holly Springs is set to bring back the beloved tradition of Santa’s Mailbox, a cherished holiday event that ensures local children’s Christmas wishes reach the North Pole in time. Beginning Monday, Nov. 25, through Sunday, Dec. 15, 2024, children can drop off their letters to Santa in the special mailbox located outside Holly Springs Town Hall at 128 S. Main St. Organized by John Dalpe and ASI, North Carolina, this holiday activity has become a seasonal staple, enchanting young residents year after year.
The tradition mirrors similar initiatives in neighboring communities, like Raleigh’s "Santa’s Express" mailbox and Cary’s "Letters to Santa" program, but with a distinctive local twist. Holly Springs’ version includes the efforts of Holly Springs Run Club volunteers and staff from Endurance Fence Solutions, who “sprint” these letters to Santa, adding a fun, community-driven element to the event.
Historically, holiday letter-writing to Santa has been celebrated across the United States since the late 19th century, reflecting the long-standing magic associated with children’s Christmas dreams. The tradition in Holly Springs is no exception, and each year it grows in popularity as families look forward to giving their children a direct line to the North Pole.
For kids hoping to receive a response from Santa by Christmas Eve, including their name and home address on the letter is essential. This personalized touch allows Santa to reply before his big night, adding a magical element to the holiday season.
What to Do: From Nov. 25 to Dec. 15, drop by Holly Springs Town Hall, located at 128 S. Main St., to place your child's letter in Santa’s Mailbox. Don’t forget to include their name and address to ensure Santa can write back before Christmas Eve.
