Plan Ahead: What's on the Agenda for Tuesday's (1/13) Apex (NC) Town Council Meeting
Tuesday’s meeting centers on infrastructure investments, land-use decisions tied to ongoing growth, and the first steps toward shaping next year’s town budget.
Apex, NC, Jan. 11, 2026 — Apex Town Council will next meet on Tuesday, January 13th at 6:00 p.m. at the Apex Town Hall (directions). The agenda blends routine approvals with several decisions tied to growth, infrastructure, and the Town’s next budget. Below are the key items residents may want to watch. The agenda and related documents are available here and on the town’s website.
Water and infrastructure spending
Council will consider an agreement related to Veridea Parkway that would allow a developer to install a larger waterline than required, with the Town reimbursing the added capacity at a cost capped at $250,000. Town officials say the larger line would improve long-term water capacity and fire protection as the area continues to develop.
Council will also ratify contract amendments related to ongoing road rehabilitation, pavement preservation, and Jones Street improvements, keeping previously approved projects on track.
Annexation and rezoning decisions
Several public hearings are scheduled for annexation and rezoning requests involving properties on:
New Hill Olive Chapel Road
Castleberry Road
Old U.S. 1 Highway
Humie Olive Road (The Summit Apex)
Council will also revisit Unified Development Ordinance (UDO) amendments that were continued from late 2025 meetings. Together, these items will shape how and where future development occurs in Apex.
Budget season begins
Council will formally schedule the first public hearing for the Town’s Fiscal Year 2026–27 operating budget, marking the start of the annual process that sets spending priorities and tax rates.
Town governance and procedures
The agenda includes several governance-related items, including:
A proposal to limit the term length of the Mayor Pro-Tempore
Cleanup of duplicated language in Council rules
Acceptance of advisory board attendance reports, which could lead to warnings or removals for members who miss too many meetings
Transit, parking, and community items
Council will review an amendment to the GoApex Sunday transit service agreement and update parking time limits for a redesigned Town-owned parking lot. The meeting also includes proclamations recognizing Human Trafficking Awareness Month and Martin Luther King Jr. Commemoration Weekend.
A note on finances
One consent item on the agenda acknowledges receipt of the November 2025 tax report, but the public agenda materials do not include any revenue figures. Holly Springs Update has reached out to the town clerk for the full report.
