Plan Ahead: Fuquay-Varina (NC) Town Board to Hold Organizational and Business Meetings Monday (12/1)
Newly elected leaders sworn in as the Commissioners consider two annexation requests, traffic safety updates, police repair funding, and resident comments during its first meeting of the new term.
Holly Springs, NC, Nov. 29, 2025 — The Fuquay-Varina Board of Commissioners will meet next on Monday, December 1st, at Town Hall (directions) beginning with its Organizational Meeting at 7:00 p.m., followed by the regular Business Meeting. The agenda (document) includes the swearing-in of newly elected officials, two voluntary annexation public hearings, and consent agenda items focused on traffic safety and police vehicle repairs.
Organizational Meeting
The scheduled meeting begins with ceremonial and leadership change actions following November’s local elections:
Mayor Oath of Office: William H. Harris will be sworn in as Mayor.
Commissioner Oaths of Office: Bryan Haynes and Kristopher Vorren will be sworn in as commissioners.
The Board will also hear comments from outgoing and incoming board members before electing a Mayor Pro Tem and making appointments to Town committees.
Public Hearings: Two Voluntary Annexation Requests
Voluntary Annexation – Cotton Property (Document: ANX-2025-19)
The Board will hold a public hearing for the annexation of approximately 2.8 acres at 9160 Lake Wheeler Road, requested by the owners. The petitioners seek Town water service for a new single-family home. Sewer is unavailable and exempted, and fire flow service is adequate at 1,954 GPM. Property value: $185,660.
Voluntary Annexation – DiGiacomo Property (Document: ANX-2025-20)
A hearing will also be held on the annexation of approximately 1.1 acres at 4845 Frankie Road to provide Town water to an existing home. Sewer and sanitation services are unavailable and exempted, and fire flow tests produced 1,639 GPM. Property value: $474,082.
Consent Agenda
Four-Way Stop Installation – Raleigh Street & S. Fuquay Avenue (Document)
The Board will consider a Town Code amendment establishing a four-way stop at Raleigh Street and S. Fuquay Avenue. This recommendation accompanies the nearly complete ADA Improvements Project, which includes curb ramp upgrades and resurfacing. Staff determined the four-way stop will improve visibility, slow traffic, and support downtown walkability.
Budget Amendment – Insurance Proceeds for Police Department (Document: BA-2026-26)
The Board will consider appropriating approximately $2,200 in insurance proceeds received after two patrol cars were damaged in collisions. The funds will be added to the Police Department’s vehicle maintenance and repair budget to cover repair costs.
Public Comment Period
Each regular meeting includes a Public Comment Period, during which residents may address the Town Board on matters of community interest.
Anyone wishing to speak must sign up in advance with the Town Clerk before the meeting begins.
Comments are limited to three minutes per person to ensure everyone has an opportunity to be heard.
