National Night Out Brings Community and Police Together in Fuquay-Varina, Apex, and Holly Springs
Fuquay-Varina celebrates August 5; Holly Springs and Apex plan October events to beat the summer heat
Holly Springs, NC, Jul. 31, 2025 — National Night Out is an annual community-building campaign, organized by the National Association of Town Watch, that brings together law enforcement, civic groups, businesses, and neighbors in a collective effort to foster safer, more connected neighborhoods.
Typically held on the first Tuesday in August, the event includes block parties, cookouts, safety demonstrations, visits by police and fire personnel, youth programs, and more, all designed to enhance trust and camaraderie between residents and their local public safety partners. While most communities nationwide observe it in August, towns like Holly Springs and Apex have adjusted their schedules to October to “beat the heat” and offer a more comfortable experience for participants.
Fuquay-Varina: August 5 Celebration with Dunk Tank and Food Drive
The Fuquay-Varina Police Department will host its National Night Out on Tuesday, August 5, from 5:00 to 8:00 PM at 401 Old Honeycutt Road. This year’s festivities include:
Free food (burgers, hot dogs, and more)
Bounce houses for kids and adults
A “Dunk a Cop” booth
Giveaways and other activities
The department will also be collecting food donations during the event to support the local emergency food pantry.
“Let’s come together, have a blast, and strengthen our community ties!” the department said in its announcement. All are welcome for an evening of fun, service, and community spirit.
Holly Springs: October 7 Event Returns to Ting Park
The Town of Holly Springs will celebrate National Night Out on Tuesday, October 7, from 6:00 to 8:30 PM at Ting Park. By holding the event in October, the town avoids the summer heat while still offering the whole National Night Out experience.
Last year’s event featured food trucks, a bounce house, live music, and tours of police and fire vehicles. Residents can expect a similarly festive atmosphere this year. The event aims to bring neighbors and first responders together for a night of community connection and fun.
Apex: October 7 Night Out and Touch-a-Truck Combo
Also on October 7, the Town of Apex will host its annual Apex Night Out from 4:30 to 7:00 PM at the Apex Town Campus (73 Hunter St.). This popular event combines National Night Out with Touch-a-Truck, offering kids the chance to explore emergency, construction, and military vehicles up close.
Highlights include:
A wide array of vehicles to climb on and explore
Food trucks, interactive games, and vendor booths
Safety demonstrations and information
A horn-free hour from 4:30–5:30 PM for guests sensitive to loud noises
The event is free, open to the public, and will be held rain or shine. No registration is required, but adult supervision is necessary for children. Some campus parking may be restricted during the event.
All three towns’ events reflect the mission of National Night Out: fostering community spirit, increasing safety awareness, and building trust between residents and law enforcement.
