Holly Springs, NC, Sep. 4, 2026 — Eighteen Holly Springs restaurants inspected in August received A grades, with scores ranging from 97.5 to 99.5.
Cleaning and maintenance accounted for many of the problems inspectors found. Several restaurants were cited for grease, dirt, or other buildup on shelving, cooler racks, gaskets, and equipment. Inspectors also found clean containers stacked while still wet at several locations, rather than allowed to air-dry before storage.
Other violations included rusting shelves and racks, damaged or malfunctioning equipment, and problems involving handwashing sinks. At some restaurants, items were placed in or around handwashing sinks, and inspectors also found unlabeled cleaning products in spray bottles.
Food-storage problems included raw eggs and raw chicken stored above ready-to-eat foods. Inspectors also cited an improperly stored utensil that was touching food and a handwashing station without properly available soap. Several of the problems were corrected during the inspections.
Despite the violations, every Holly Springs restaurant inspected during August received an A. Scores, inspection findings, and corrective actions for each restaurant are listed below.

Rules Governing the Sanitation of Food Service Establishments
Rule (15A NCAC 18A .2662 GRADING)
(a) The grading of food establishments is based on a system of scoring. A food establishment that earns a score of at least:
(1) 90 percent shall receive a grade A;
(2) 80 percent and less than 90 percent shall receive a grade B;
(3) 70 percent and less than 80 percent shall receive a grade C.
Permits shall be immediately revoked in accordance with G.S. 130A-23(d) for food establishments receiving a score of less than 70 percent.
