Holly Springs High School Golden Hawks Fall to Panther Creek, 16–7, in Football Home Opener
The Hawks’ lone score came on a Tamaury Scott TD run, with penalties and turnovers stalling hope for a second-half comeback.
Holly Springs, NC, Aug. 23, 2025 — The Holly Springs Golden Hawks opened their 2025 football season Friday night at home but came up short against the Panther Creek Catamounts, dropping a 16–7 decision in front of a lively crowd.
Panther Creek struck first on a touchdown run by Tyler Slater (#1), putting the Catamounts ahead early. Holly Springs responded later in the first quarter when quarterback Cole Paré (#7) connected with Will Dant (#11) on a key pass that set up a touchdown run from Tamaury Scott (#4), tying the game at 7–7 with just 36 seconds left in the quarter.
A field goal by Panther Creek’s Kanoa McGee (#3) gave the Catamounts a 10–7 halftime lead, and they extended their advantage in the third quarter on another scoring drive. Holly Springs’ Walker Joy (#15) blocked the extra point, but the Hawks still trailed 16–7 heading into the final quarter.
The Golden Hawks had several chances in the second half, including a drive inside the red zone, but turnovers and penalties stalled momentum. Panther Creek’s defense sealed the win with two interceptions by Elijah Quick (#14).
Holly Springs will look to rebound next Friday, August 29, when the Golden Hawks travel to Wakefield for a non-conference matchup at 7:00 p.m.
