Holly Springs Council Approves $20M Guaranteed Maximum Price for Eagles Landing Park Development
Eagles Landing Park is set to occupy 56 acres directly across from Holly Springs High School. The park will include a variety of amenities designed to cater to residents of all ages.
Holly Springs, NC, January 21, 2025 — In a significant advancement for local recreation, the Holly Springs Town Council has approved a $20,211,917 Guaranteed Maximum Price (GMP) for the Eagles Landing Park project. This decision, made during the January 21, 2025, meeting, propels the town closer to realizing its vision for a comprehensive, multi-generational recreational facility.
Project Overview:
Eagles Landing Park is set to occupy 56 acres on Cass Holt Road, directly across from Holly Springs High School. The park's master plan includes a variety of amenities designed to cater to residents of all ages:
Multi-Generational Indoor Recreation Center: A facility aimed at providing diverse recreational opportunities.
Outdoor Splash Pad: A water play area for families and children.
Lighted Pickleball and Basketball Courts: Facilities to accommodate both casual and competitive play.
Lighted Turf Fields: Versatile spaces suitable for various sports and community events.
All-Wheels Skatepark: A dedicated area for skateboarding and other wheeled sports.
Accessible Trails and Greenways: Paths designed for walking, jogging, and connecting with nature.
Picnic Shelter and Fishing Pier: Spots for relaxation and leisure activities.
Council's Decision:
The approved GMP encompasses essential early-stage construction activities, including site grading, erosion control, and utility installations. Additionally, infrastructure improvements, such as widening Castle Road and installing a new traffic signal near Holly Springs High School, are planned to enhance accessibility and safety.
Serving as the project's Construction Manager at Risk (CMAR), Bloom Construction has been instrumental in pre-construction planning. Their efforts in pre-qualifying subcontractors and conducting competitive bidding have ensured that the project aligns with the town’s budget and quality expectations.
Community Impact:
The development of Eagles Landing Park is a direct response to the town's 2021 Citizen Satisfaction Survey and the Parks, Recreation, and Greenways Master Plan, reflecting the community's desire for expanded recreational facilities. The park's location west of N.C. 55 addresses the need for accessible amenities, marking it as the first park to serve residents on that side of town.
Timeline:
Design Phase: Currently in progress, with efforts to finalize playground and splash pad equipment, incorporating public feedback gathered after the parkland’s acquisition.
Construction Start: Site grading and preparation for utility lines and stormwater features will begin in late 2025.
Park Opening: The park’s opening is anticipated in 2027, though specific amenities, such as multipurpose fields, could open earlier.
The council's approval signifies a commitment to enhancing community resources and meeting the recreational needs of Holly Springs' growing population. Residents can look forward to a state-of-the-art facility designed to enrich the town’s recreational and social offerings.
