Holly Springs Community Garden to Open at Sugg Farm Park
The garden is poised to become a vibrant addition to Sugg Farm Park and the wider Holly Springs community.
Holly Springs, NC, Nov. 17, 2024 — Holly Springs is set to launch its newest community initiative, a public garden at Sugg Farm Park. Located at 2033 Grigsby Avenue, the garden will feature 55 plots for residents to cultivate fruits, vegetables, and flowers. The project promotes sustainable gardening, local food production, and community connection.
The garden will occupy 0.95 acres within the park, with amenities including 20 parking spaces, bicycle racks, ADA-compliant pathways, and a picnic area. The site will also have water access through 10 strategically placed spigots, fencing for security, and green infrastructure features like permeable pavers to reduce environmental impact. Residents can rent plots for the growing season, with details on registration and usage guidelines to be announced by the Parks and Recreation Department in early 2024.
Sugg Farm Park, over 110 acres, is a popular recreational space in Holly Springs. The addition of the community garden underscores the town’s focus on creating spaces that foster both environmental awareness and social interaction.
The town anticipates high interest in the garden plots, which will be rented on a first-come, first-served basis. Residents are encouraged to monitor the town’s website and other communications for updates on registration and garden policies.
This project represents an opportunity for residents to embrace sustainable living, enjoy the outdoors, and build community connections. With its planned opening in the spring, the garden is poised to become a vibrant addition to Sugg Farm Park and the wider Holly Springs community.
