Holly Springs, NC, Apr. 15, 2025 — During last night’s meeting, the Holly Springs Town Council approved distributing $20,000 in nonprofit grants to support 16 community organizations serving the town through education, outreach, youth programs, the arts, and human services.
The grants are part of the FY 2024–2025 Nonprofit Support Program, with funding recommendations presented by a subcommittee of council members. The program was once again competitive, with more applications than available funds.
Public Transparency and Budget Inclusion
Council members also discussed how to share the award information publicly. Rather than posting the names on the town’s website, members agreed the complete list would be documented in the town’s official budget.
“There’s nothing wrong with listing it in the budget,” one council member said. “It’s public information and it should be public.”
Another council member added: “We’re not promoting; we’re acknowledging. They’ve earned this grant, and they should be recognized.” A third noted, “I think the budget is the right place for it… it’s formal, it’s public, and it’s appropriate.”
