Apex, NC, Apr. 12, 2025 — During its April 8th meeting, the Apex Town Council recognized local achievements and highlighted important community observances through proclamations and presentations that celebrated civic engagement, youth participation, and public service.
Among the evening’s highlights was a special recognition of Cub Scout Pack 312, whose scouts were honored as the fastest pack in the Pinewood Derby. Council members praised the group’s enthusiasm and teamwork, emphasizing the youth programs' role in building leadership and community pride.
The Council also issued four official proclamations, beginning with a declaration of April as Child Abuse Prevention Month in Apex. Mayor Jacques Gilbert read the proclamation into the record, underscoring the importance of creating safe, supportive environments for children and raising awareness about the prevention of abuse and neglect.
In recognition of first responders behind the scenes, the Council proclaimed April 13–19 as National Public Safety Telecommunicators Week, honoring the dispatchers and emergency communication professionals who serve as vital lifelines in moments of crisis. The proclamation acknowledged their professionalism and composure under pressure and their role in keeping both citizens and field personnel safe.
Another proclamation designated April 19, 2025, as Nepal Day in Apex, celebrating the cultural contributions of the local Nepalese community. The gesture reflects the town’s growing diversity and commitment to recognizing the heritage of all its residents.
Also presented during the meeting were the Think Apex Awards 2025, which recognize individuals and organizations for their positive impact on the town. While full details on this year’s recipients were not included in the official meeting documents, the awards are traditionally categorized as business leadership, volunteer service, and neighborhood engagement. The program is part of Apex’s broader effort to encourage civic involvement and spotlight those who go above and beyond for the community.
Through each proclamation and recognition, the Council demonstrated its ongoing commitment to honoring those who contribute to Apex's well-being, safety, and spirit.
