Apex Friendship High School Jumps Ahead Early, Defeats Lee County High School, 31–14
Patriots scored four touchdowns, a field goal, and four extra points in their season home opener to build a 31–0 lead before Lee County answered late.
Apex, NC, Aug. 29, 2025 — Apex Friendship made the most of its opportunities Friday night in its season home opener, scoring 31 points on four touchdowns, four extra points, and a 20-yard field goal to secure a 31–14 win over Lee County. The victory followed the Patriots’ road win over Broughton High last week.
Quarterback Ethan McGarrigan (#3) connected with Cameron Fields (#10) on a 65-yard touchdown, and the defense added points when Landon Davis (#55) returned a fumble 26 yards for a score. Adam Schreiber (#4) ran in from 12 yards out, and Benjamin Everett (#9) punched in another from 3 yards. Kicker Ronan McCarthy (#85) was perfect, hitting all four extra points and a 20-yard field goal.
Lee County’s offense came alive in the fourth quarter. Quarterback Aiden Poole (#10) threw touchdown passes to Destry Smith (#15) and Lincoln Smith (#3), with Alex Borrell (#9) adding both PATs to close the gap.

The Patriots also had plenty of support off the field. A packed student section kept the noise level high, while the cheerleaders and dance team provided energy throughout the game.
At halftime, the Patriot Regiment marching band performed its 2025 program, Houdini Unchained, featuring a mix of selections built around the theme of Harry Houdini’s escapes. The show drew strong applause and capped a lively night for Apex Friendship’s student groups.

From explosive plays on the field to spirited performances in the stands and at halftime, Apex Friendship controlled the game and the atmosphere, improving to 2–0 on the season with the 31–14 victory. They next play at home on September 5 against Southern Lee.
